TIME TO READ

Time To Read: Trainer Manual and Site Coordinator Manual. Time Warner, Inc., 1998.

The Time To Read (TTR) program is a well-established system of helping students and adults improve their reading skills through a tutorial program based on the use of Time’s family of magazines (Time and Time for Kids, Sports Illustrated and Sports Illustrated for Kids, Southern Living, etc.) As 10-year-old program feeling the push to expand, TTR asked Teachable Tech to revise and rewrite the manuals, handouts and workshop tools used by TTR trainers to support new tutors and by corporate and community action site coordinators who set up and maintain tutorial programs in their communities.

Training material includes:

  • Trainer’s Manual: a 3-ring binder to introduce the program, set the training agenda, provide tips and patterns to follow during before, during and after the training day
  • Tutor Handouts and Overheads: clear, concise training aids to help clarify information during the training session and insure that important information is highlighted for trainers to use after the training session
  • Internet resources for both tutors and students to enhance communication and continuing support

Teachable Tech’s responsibilities include:

  • Hiring, supervising, and conferring with writers and teachers/consultants
  • Designing, implementing and revising training material
  • Observing, consulting and coordinating the writing, editing and designing of the material with TTR staff, trainers and site coordinators
  • Consulting with TTR staff to enhance communication and continuing support for tutors, trainers and site coordinators
